Name: Pastures of the Mind

Content: I woke up on a desert island the sun was going down there was a boat tied to a palm tree near and phony looking clown I stood up and called shotgun But he said take it if you dare I didn't dare but I knew it wasn't right I laughed at him said that not fair he said whats fair or foul is an illusion and illusions change from time to time I wasn't sure 'bout what he'd said but I sat down in the back the clown yelled and got back out again mumbling something about a tack so we sped off across the water I though we should be home by three The clown I never saw again but i never took his cherished seat I guess his wise words were an illusion and illusions dissapear from time to time When I finally got to town I ran into the garbage man he said the worlds more full of sorrow that you could ever understand I told him well that fine but could you tell me where I am He he pulled a rabbit from his hat said he learned it in back in Nam guess that apperance is as an illusion and illusions aren't always as they seem Well i met some girl at the top of a hill she said she'd gladly die for her beliefs I said but the honor is to live for them while the world attacks without relief She said i think i see what you're saying and then bent down to kiss my feet She said its getting late so lets go home So we went walking up the street Just because you believe in an illusion doesn't mean that it believes in you Well I left there in the morning i still wondered where I was Policeman asked me why i went that way And i answered just because When I finally got where I was going I sat down and wrote this song I was an eagle scout and everything but something still seemed wrong I guess sometimes success is an illusion but you'll never know unless make it there
